About the Corvair...

She's an engineering marvel, so beautifully designed, ahead of her time on so many levels, and yet so often maligned and misunderstood.

More than almost every other collector's vehicle, the Chevy Corvair continues to fascinate classic car enthusiasts and automotive historians almost 60 years after it debuted on October 2, 1959.

Almost 3 million Corvairs were made during its

10-year run from 1960-69.  Factory models included 2 and 4-door hardtops, convertibles, station wagons, passenger vans, cargo vans, and pickups.

Corvairs have been the platform for concept cars, hot rods, even motorhomes and airplanes, and stand as an iconic period vehicle for 1960's era movies & TV.

Today, there's a wealth of Corvair-centric content available online, so rather than attempting any kind of lengthy historical retrospective here, we invite you to check out our Links page for some Corvair "rabbit holes".  You'll find a little bit of everything, and you'll be amazed how fast you can burn up a few hours.

You can also click the "Corvair Fun Facts" link above for some quick fingertip information - you might even keep a few of these handy in your glove box, too, because you know Corvairs always draw a crowd and someone will invariably walk up to you at an event and proceed to tell you the "real story of the Corvair!"
